Honda’s hot-hatch Civic Type R has a new Limited Edition version that just set a new lap record at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan. The new version sports 320PS at 6,500 rpm, and 400nm of torque from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm, and an impressive 0-62mph of 5.7 seconds. Not bad for a front wheel drive car!
Honda already took it’s 10th generation Civic around the Nurburgring Nordschliefe in 2017, breaking the front wheel drive lap record with a stunning 7 minute 43.8 second lap, but this new lighter weight version has lap more lap records to smash.
Honda took it to Suzuka, a relatively local track for the firm, and set a new lap record with a 2 minute 23.993 second lap time. They say that’s thanks to the 47KG less weight of the Limited Edition, it’s Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 types, forged BBS alloy wheels and improved suspension dampers.
The Limited Edition comes with a special gear shifter – yes it’s still a manual – and an Alcantara wrapped steering wheel. They are only making 100 cars for Europe, so if you want one you might need to be quick. They are on sale now. If you want to know more about their lap record, visit Honda’s site here.
