The BMW M5 has always been heralded as the best high performance saloon on the road, so to hear the new range is out and comes with an M5 Competition option too… That’s just excellent. Lets take a look.

BMW M5 Competition front

This facelift F90 generation M5, and M5 Competition, are stunning cars. With carbon fibre everywhere from the front grill to the rear defuser it’s a joy to see. Power is the same at 600PS (591HP), as is torque at 750 NM (553 lb ft), and the same 8 speed ZF 8HP transmission which makes use of a torque converter rather than dual clutches.

The competition now gets a “Track” mode, which turns all the driver aids off meaning you’ll have to be on top of your game when hurling this near 2 tonne monster around a circuit.

The main changes to this are exterior styling tweaks, with a new sharper front and rear bumper, throaty exhaust and redesigned headlights.

BMW M5 Competition Shock

The M5 Competition also has improved shock absorbers along with tuning for the adjustable suspension system, meaning you should be able to make full use of the twin turbo V8’s grunt, or cruise comfortably eating up the motorway miles.

The standard 5 Series cars now have M Sport pack options, should you want to make your 520D look a little more sporty, including a carbon front splitter, carbon diffusor, carbon/Alcantara steering wheel and quite a lot more. The full list can be found on BMW’s website. I’ll leave a gallery of their stunning pictures below.

I have a passion for cars, driving, working on them and talking about them. Anything fast or electric, is fair game. Own an Audi S4 B8.5 & an SV650S.
